Creativity of the mind
- Case study:
Madam Martha used to sell mosquito net at Keta in the 1970s. The business was lucrative and she made enough to put up a three-bedroom house from the proceeds. She was considered rich according to the standards of the area.
The mosquito problem of the then Keta District was getting out of hand and the District authorities began bringing officers from Malaria Control Service at Ho to spray the area.
The mosquito invasion went down to a near eradication and this inadvertently affected the mosquito net business. Gradually, Madam Martha got bankrupt and subsequently went out of business.
The question is, why could Madam Martha not foresee the collapse of the mosquito business in the near future?
The nearest answer is Madam Martha’s mind could not forecast the future of her business. She clearly lacked foresight and business creativity.
- Exercise:
The essence of this exercise is to study our environments, situations and even challenges and see the opportunities that we can take advantage of to generate businesses.
A careful study of the orange and a bit of visualization can help you create wealth with its inherent properties.

Items that can be derived from orange include: Jam, Orange juice, Medicaments, Insecticide and orange.
A creative and forward-looking mind could have helped Madam Martha foresee the collapse of the mosquito net business. This would then have informed her to look for other investment opportunity.
