Traveling for the first time on board is an experience everyone would want to have at least once in their life time. For local flights it is basically booking tickets and getting your national identification.
In Ghana there are four local airports; Kumasi, Takoradi, Accra and Wa of which the Ho Airport was recently introduced. Local flights were created to enable easy transportation between cities in Ghana. A first time experience of travelling by air needs a lot of preparation and getting adequate information as one may not know what may be required of him or her.
For a traveler, you first need to get information about when there will be available flights to preferred destination one may be going after being able to do the necessary checks. It is then required to pay for flight ticket when you have booked a flight in order to confirm your flight. On the day of departure there are various check points an individual has to go through before getting on board. Checking in to make sure your details you booked the flight with is in accordance to your national Identification. After confirmation, you now proceed to check in your luggage making sure passengers are not carrying more than necessary bags or unwanted materials.
One can then proceed to go through individual screening and this is also to make sure people are not carrying weapons or objects that could be used to harm others on board. After all is said and done, you go ahead to finally confirm your ticket before going to board the plane. When going, you can either join the flight bus to the plane or walk if you wish to. Taking off is where all the fun starts, especially when the plane is taxing and the wheels merging beneath the plane. Interesting people on board get emotional and start taking videos of just that scenery. Up in the sky you get to see a larger view of the town beneath you and when closer to the sea, it is even more intriguing, at higher altitudes you also get to see the beautiful clouds, at some point you may or may not experience some sort of turbulence depending on the condition of the weather until safe arrival to your destination. Experiencing this first hand is a must for everyone. It may be a more expense form of travel but definitely worth a try. Air travel in Ghana has come a long way and still has a longer journey ahead.
